La acostumbrada “Marcha para Jesús” que se realiza anualmente congregó este pasado jueves entre dos y cinco millones de personas en São Paulo, Brasil. Oración, música y mensajes de fe y esperanza fueron algunas de las actividades realizadas en el encuentro.
Este mega evento, que se realiza desde hace dieciocho años de manera consecutiva, reúne a una multitud de evangélicos en el país más grande de mayoría católica. Además, Sao Paulo es una de las mayores ciudades del mundo con más de 10 millones de habitantes.
En las últimas décadas, las iglesias evangélicas han crecido rápidamente en éste y otros países latinoamericanos hasta llegar a convertirse en una influencia importante.
Las últimas cifras disponibles muestran que el porcentaje de católicos en Brasil cayó del 84 por ciento en 1995 al 74 por ciento en 2000. Durante el mismo período, el número de evangélicos aumentó del 9 por ciento a 15 por ciento.
Los organizadores esperan que este nuevo encuentro sirva como un testimonio que impacte aún más a la nación y que permita que más personas lleguen a una experiencia personal con Jesús.
LA MARCHA POR JESÚS
El pastor Estevam Hernandez, de la Iglesia Renacer en Cristo que coordina la marcha, señaló que las expectativas de convocatoria se cumplieron. Además destacó, que no se produjo ningún incidente durante todo el evento, como confirmaron las autoridades locales.
Este año se unieron visiblemente fe y fútbol, debido al mundial de fútbol en Sudáfrica; ya que muchos de los participantes vistieron camisetas deportivas con los colores de la selección de Brasil, especialmente del número 10 de la selección carioca, el jugador Kaká, de fe evangélica.
En ediciones pasadas de la marcha se tuvo la participación del jugador, aunque este año por su participación en el mundial estuvo ausente.
CURIOSIDADES
Brasil creó por ley el “Día Nacional de la Marcha para Jesús” en septiembre de 2009, proyecto que fue avalado por el presidente Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Como festividad oficial, tiene lugar cada año pasados 60 días de la festividad de la Pascua.
La Marcha para Jesús se realiza anualmente también en otros muchos países del mundo, aunque sin alcanzar las cifras de Brasil.
